Land of the Free
What does it really mean to be free? It would seem the advantages of United States citizenship have convinced many minds that nothing more is needed to achieve this end. Perhaps living in the “land of the free” with “liberty... for all” where an entire period of American history highlights the struggle for “civil rights” has helped define this idea in this way for many. For a long time, this nation has stood tall and proud, freedom in one hand and opportunity in the other, but is this a lasting kind of freedom? Is this even freedom?
